September 25: VIR

Andy #327

I was lucky to make the wk-end at all so I am grateful for things going my way leading up the festivities.

Arrived Sat night @ 5:30...Unpacked, went out for a drink with the fellas

Sunday:
Practice was one session only but at least it was 6 laps...And I needed it desperately...  I was all over the place.-- I was on the gator strips coming out of T3 (Bad area for that stuff)...Overshot T7 and ended up on the off camber part...(Not good either) Coming thru T14 I was about a foot inside the curbing kicking up dust (At least I know it is OK to pass there)...Back on the front straight I dropped off the track inside next to the scoring tower...All this was just the 1st two laps... Best lap was a 1:49...

MW SS:
I started dead last (34th)...Finally put a few laps together enough to get a good finish compared to my start...I finished 18th...And a best of a 1:48...

HW SB:
I was gridded 2nd row 1st wave...  I got a KICK ASS start and was 3rd going into T1...Was leaning on a guy real hard to pressure him into backing off and it worked...I held 3rd all the way back to the front straight and I got motored by few bikes...I held 5th for most of the race and got passed on the last lap going to the checkers by two more ...I finished 7th gained MAD points for the region and hopefully clinched 2nd overall for Mid Atlantic...   My best was 1:41...

MW SB:
I was front row...Bad thing was It was right after the HW SB race...I got a really goos start considering the (Hang Time) on the wheelie...I was 4th into T1 and did everything in my power to hang up front for the duration but it only lasted until the roller coaster...I hated to get passed so much but, I gave it my all and finished 11th... I matched my best time from the HW race and it was from the flag...

Season is over (For Me) & I had a great one for my 1st year...(NO CRASHES)... I have met a ton of cool people along the way  I plan on racing next year but not as much as I did this year...In the middle of shuffling some priorities and house chores...I do not think I will be on a gixxer next year...  You'll have to wait and see...

Thanks to my teammate (JP), Clinton Cycles, LP, 1888FASTLAP, Pirelli, Vortex, EBC, VHS Photography and Shoot To Thril Photo...I'll see you at the Banquet...!!!

Special thanks to...My wife (Elizabeth) & son (Skyler) for the sacrifices they made, and thanks to the US NAVY for giving me the opportunity to enjoy my addiction of speed and competition...
