May 19-22: VIR, WERA Cycle Jam Pat #233 Well this weekend sucked on my end. I got there thursday night, JUST before they closed the gates. It was midnight, so everyone was asleep. I set up, and went to bed. I slept through practice, and got up so I could pit crew for Wizard Racing for the Endurance race. Jim (Wiz) crashed the gsxr1000 in Endurance practice, and Timmy got his R6 for the Endurance race. He ran the whole 4 hours on the MAGIC FRONT TIRE. This tire has at least 20 sprint races and this 4 hr endurance race on it, and it still looks good enough to race on! It really looked like it was going to rain during the race, but it never did more than just spit. Both the 600 team and the 1000 team did really well. It was a fun time. It really sucked that Wizo broke his forearm in practice, so he didn't race the Endurance. Peanut (Ned Brown) took his spot and they raced Timmy's R6, and did well. Here's some pics from the Endurance pits: Wiz telling Dave "DONT GO FUCKING UP YOUR ARM LIKE ME"
me and Wiz looking on
Fever sitting on his lazy ass, Timmy listening to whatever bullshit fever is talking about, Justin looking like he needs a nap, and Wiz just gimpin'
Dave telling Peanut "so i saw this pair of boobies in turn 3, and i wanted to reach out like this and grab em!!!"
Fever on the 600
Dave sally on Timmy's R6 with the shorty-short pipe
me fixing a broken fairing screw which made the lower loose, Justin dumping gas. Timmy looks like he's about to blow a gasket!!! Look at those ominous skies..... we were lucky it didnt actually RAIN hard during the endurance
Well I got out for practice saturday morning, by the end of the 1st lap I knew something was wrong with the motor. It was bogging and not responding like it should. I putted around to finish the lap and pulled the thing apart, found my top cylinder was scored all up and the piston was totally destroyed. It was my fault. It was more my fault for, the night before, drinking beers with some folks and talking shit saying "aww, two strokes arent so bad, in 2 years I've never siezed it up, bla bla bla bla". I jinxed myself and my motor was fucked. Only one TZ250 guy around the paddock, and he wouldn't lend/sell me his spare cylinder (kit part). So my weekend was over. I got a 1/2 refund for my race entry fees, but I was still pissed. What a waste. Oh well, it was my fault and I paid for it. I'll always run RICH jetting from now on and I won't skimp out on parts when I do a rebuild.
