Race reports

June 26-27: VIR

Andy #327

friday morning I go out for a damp practice - 1st session keep the speeds down and play it safe using the time to loosen everything up and wake up. I end up cutting a 1:47.6 that session...2nd session, it is dry and hot by now so, I go out and wick it up a bit...Things felt great...I end up with a 1:46.7 as my best...Another 3 Sec off my best time...I was looking forward a great wk-end of racing...

GTU friday June 25:  I was gridded 9A 2nd wave...not bad but not great either...I got a killer start and got by 7 or 8 guys and a girl going into T1...I kinda got stuck in this group of 7 bikes that were stuck behind this guy that was parking it in the corners and just killing everyones drive out of the corners...I watched for a lap or two to pick my spots that I wanted to pounce on them & I got them 1 by 1 with the good old STUFF moves and parking it in front of them for a change...It felt great to do some stuffing... I ended up finishing 14th and I ripped off a 1:44.5 lap time...

GTU pic...I had to go around the outside of this guy he just wouldn't give up the inside...

This is part of the 7 bike group I was stuck in...

MiddleWeight SuperBike, saturday June 26: I had a great grid and jacked up the start so bad the race didn't even matter after that...I LIT the rear up like I was doing a warm up burn out for a 1/4 mile run...  I launched the same as I always have...I think there may have been something on the track or something...Anyway I finished 25th and couldn't muster anything better than a 1:46 because I kept thinking about what could have happened at the start...

HeavyWeight SuperBike, sunday June 27: I was gridded 4G...I got an awesome start right up the inside going into T1...I think I was 9th or 10th coming out of T1...There was a lot of bar to bar battling this race...It was the best race of the year for me as far as competition goes. There was a lot of wheel showing going on...I made a HUGE mistake on lap 1 that could have cost me dearly but I got away with it "Lucky for me". I was coming fast into 17 and this dude just parked it...I grabbed a handful of brake and just missed him...The bad thing about this turn is it is very fast, downhill & severely off cambered, did I mention it was also bumpy?  The rest of the race was AWESOME...battled like hell to gain 4 positions to end up with a 11th place finish which I am extremely pleased with...Considering my goal was a top 15 in this particular class...And now for the kick in the pants...I ripped off a 1:41 flat lap time. I also had the PLEASURE of romping a 1k with my 600 during my drive thru the pack.

I shave off a total of 19 seconds from my lap time since my first visit in April...I was only 4 seconds behind the top 5 guys...
